Blind Engineer EP Update

My band Blind Engineer's new EP is now available for online streaming, download, and hard-copy purchase (CD only). Two choices: Bandcamp or Mingo Town Music.

Our release show is Friday July 29 at Ace of Cups with Sin Shouters and Betsy Ross, two great local bands.

Also, we'll be playing live in-studio at WCBE 90.5 on Wednesday, July 27 in the 11AM hour. Listen online.

We'll also play at the Columbus Dispatch's "Window on the World" live in-studio series on Friday July 29 at noon. It's broadcast on the web here.

Finally--whew!--a video, too:

Blind Engineer Announces New EP The Big Restless

Back in January, Blind Engineer (my band, my bae?) went "into the studio" to record and came out three days later into the sun with a bunch of songs. Six of them are going to be released on our new EP, The Big Restless, in late July.

We're putting the finishing touches on the album now, and also a release show TBA soon. In the meantime, here's the album cover and tracklist.

1. Gone Too Long

2. Cross the Break

3. Hard Times Ain't Goin' Nowhere

4. Same Old Town

5. The Persuader

6. New Skin for Old Bones

Don't forget our show this Thursday night, June 30, at Big Room Bar (at CD 102.5's studios). Click here for more info.

I'll have more details about the EP in the near future. We also have about 6-7 songs for our full-length album recorded from those same sessions, and with any luck we'll have that out in early 2017. Thanks to Mingo Town Music!

Blind Engineer This Friday

We're taking the stage again, this time Friday night, Feb. 26, at Cafe Bourbon Street opening for a great band out of Louisville, Dry Summers. Doors at 9, $5. Also w/a beamed gelling rose + undam and Faster Island. CBS is the best dive/rock bars in Columbus, and I mean that lovingly.

Check out Blind Engineer at Mingo Town Music. Like I said the other post, we recorded a bunch of songs just after the new year and we're working on getting them done. A handful of new songs, one or two we'll play Friday.

Blind Engineer Shows and a Springsteen Review

The Blind Engineer has two shows coming up. I'm playing Friday Dec. 11 at the Mingo Town Music Acoustic Holiday Party, a five-hour extravaganza featuring pretty much all the artists on MTM: Harvest Kings, Heartbreak Orchestra, Devil Doves, Al Smyth's FBnCC, Apple Bottom Gang, Jake Follrod, and Jon Schaer. Eric and Jesse will join me, so it's a BE set without drums.

Next week we'll be heading down to Athens again to one of our favorite spots, Casa Nueva. Here's the show flyer, which is proof that I could never teach Photoshop or InDesign.

Also, my review of the Bruce Springsteen box set The Ties That Bind is up at PopMatters. Had some leftovers from that but I'm saving them for the January column. The December column should be up sometime soon.

The Blind Engineer Two-Day Tour

The Blind Engineer is headed out on the road for a whirlwind two-day tour of the central/southeastern corridor of the state. Exotic! The jet's in the shop so we'll have to drive. Full band with Bill Heingartner, Jesse Charles and Mr. Eric Nassau fresh off his tour.

THURSDAY AUG. 27: Casa Nueva, Athens, Ohio // Opening for The Heartlanders + DJ Barticus + DJ Wet Ditch // $3 cover // 10PM // In all seriousness, we're up for this show since it's our first outside of Columbus and Athens is always a good time. The Wells always had great shows at Casa and The Union. If you're headed out, check out the event page here.

FRIDAY AUG. 28: Big Room Bar, Columbus, Ohio // Opening for Electro Cult Circus and Cherry Chrome // ALL AGES, $5 cover ($7 under 21) // 8PM Door, 9PM Show // Affiliated with CD 102.5, the BRB just opened. Check out Cherry Chrome's great single "Velvet"! And if you're joining us, say you will here.

Here's the map we'll be using for our trek.

The Blind Engineer Heads to Athens

UPCOMING SHOW ALERT: The Blind Engineer will play in Athens, OH on Thursday, August 27 at Casa Nueva with The Heartlanders. Expect a low-cost door and good beer. Athens has always been one of my favorite places to play. The Wells had a handful of excellent shows there. This will be the first time the blindengineer has played down south. Full band, with Eric Nassau coming off his August tour and meeting us at the Cantina.

The Blind Engineer at Rumba Cafe

My band The Blind Engineer returns to the stage this Saturday, July 25 at the Rumba Cafe in support of Kevin Collins' CD release show. He's got a great new album called Ohio Town which you can check out here. Kevin is in the Mingo Town Music family--here's his page--and formerly fronted The Lost Revival.

Also on the bill are Devil Doves and Sunrise Reset. Show's at 9pm. We've got some new songs to try out.

The Blind Engineer Strikes Again

I'll be playing as The Blind Engineer once again on Wednesday, March 18 at The Tree Bar here in Columbus, opening for Evening River Band out of Philly. Despite their awesome logo (a version of which is below) they're not a death-metal band, but rather a kick-ass rock band. 9pm, 21+, $5.

Tell us you're coming on Facebook. Eric Nassau once again on bass, Bill on the drums. It's spring break, so bring your lotion.
